Sunriver Pickleball Club wraps up a memorable 2026 season
By Dan Hilburn and
Rich Quadrel
The Sunriver Pickleball Club
(SRPC) members enjoyed
another active and successful season at the Fort Rock
Park courts in 2026, bringing
together players of all skill
levels for competition, exercise,
friendship and fun.
SRPC’s official season runs
from May 1 through Sept. 30.
During that period, the
club reserves 10 pickleball
courts at Fort Rock Park for
club play Monday through
Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Although Sept. 30 marked
the end of the official season,
pickleball in Sunriver doesn’t
stop there.
Club members typically continue playing Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. before and after the regular season,
weather permitting, for as
long as the nets remain on the
courts.
One of the most visible improvements in 2026 was the
new shade structure at Fort
Rock. It quickly became a
popular gathering spot for
players and spectators and
made an already outstanding
pickleball facility even more
enjoyable.
The club’s annual tournament, held Aug. 18 and 20,
was one of the highlights of
the season.
A total of 111 players competed in individual round
robins and men’s, women’s
and mixed doubles divisions
at both recreational and
advanced levels.
The competition was spirited, but the emphasis throughout the tournament remained
on fun and good sportsmanship. Top finishers received gift
certificates for Sunriver Brewing Company and Marcello’s

restaurants.
Nearly 150 people also gathered for the club’s annual picnic,
an opportunity to share good
food, plenty of pickleball stories
and time together away from
the courts.
The picnic also marked a leadership transition. Newly elected
officers Rich Quadrel, Kim Fuller and Maybelene Young began
their terms Sept. 1, succeeding
Dan Hilburn, Kelly Wilson and
Mary Jo Appel.
Much of the club’s success depends on its 16 volunteer captains, who serve on a rotating
schedule throughout the season.
Captains bring out the pickleballs, assign courts, help manage the flow of players and
keep everyone on the courts
and playing.
Most importantly, they welcome members, guests and
visitors, answer questions and
help ensure that everyone has a
good experience.
They are true ambassadors
for the friendly and welcoming
spirit of the Sunriver Pickleball
Club.
And the season isn’t quite
over. The Fort Rock courts remain available for play as long
as the nets stay up, so come out
and enjoy some fall pickleball.
We look forward to welcoming
both returning and new members when the Sunriver Pickleball Club begins its official
2027 season next May.
