Monthly ladder fuel pickup available to owners
SROA NEWS – To support
Sunriver property owners with
performing ladder fuels reduction work on their properties
and reducing wildfire risk in
our community, SROA’s Public
Works Department offers roadside pickup of ladder fuel materials through October, weather
and schedule permitting.
Owners must have materials
ready to collect prior to the first
Monday of each month.
This service is provided to
individual Sunriver owners for
reduction of ladder fuels only.
Owners using contractors or
contractors working on private
property are responsible for the
disposal of all debris they create.
Removal of vegetative materials
generated during an approved
construction project is also
the responsibility of the owner
and their contractor, as these
materials will not be collected
by SROA.
To participate:
• Collectable materials include large branches or limbs,
seedlings under 4” diameter at breast height and large
brush such as bitterbrush
or manzanita.
• Stack material next to the
road edge and parallel to the

seemed to be back on the map for vacationers.
As in 2011, it seems that Sunriver is once again facing
a critical community decision where the importance
of creating and maintaining an environment where we
want to live and where people want to come is at stake.
I strongly support the Capital Transfer Fee proposal. I
understand that the dollars will target the development
as well as maintenance of Sunriver’s amenities that appeal to homeowners and vacationers. I also understand
that the CTF could be a buyer’s cost, a seller’s cost, or
shared by buyer and seller of a home.
For the future of Sunriver, I urge all Sunriver voters
to vote YES on CTF.
I know a smart investment when I see one
By Kara Kerker
I've owned property in Sunriver for about 25 years
and watched it thrive. What helps protects that value?
Sustained investment in world-class amenities.
The Capital Transfer Fee will do exactly that through
a modest, one-time cost paid upon sale/purchase – not
today. It's a small fraction of the investment in our
current shared amenities.
Every dollar generated will fund new ones making
road. Do not stack material next
to pathways.
• Cut branches to 8 feet
maximum lengths.
• Take care not to stack material on top of or near electric/
telephone/cable boxes, water/
sewer valves and meters, big
rocks, or sprinklers.
• NOT collected: root balls,
pine needles, grass, leaves, small
branches, or any bagged material. The entire pile will not
be collected if it includes any
of these items. These must be
taken to a local landfill or the
Sunriver compost site off Cottonwood Road.
Sunriver stronger for years to come.
This is smart. This is fair. This is how we protect
what we love.

Who will enforce noise complaints?
By Lance Conragan
As full-time residents, we have been dealing with
an extremely noisy neighboring rental in the form of
late-night hot tub parties that have gone until 2 a.m.
When we called the SRPD to lodge a complaint,
we were informed by SRPD that their ongoing noise
abatement contract with the SROA had been cancelled
by the SROA and they no longer had responsibility
for noise control. When I called the SROA to lodge
a complaint about the noise issue and asked who was
now responsible for 24/7 noise control, I was informed
I should address my complaint to the SRPD.
This issue goes to the heart of quality of life living
in Sunriver, enjoying our peace and quiet. How can
we do so when the SRPD is not contracted to enforce
noise regulations in real time 24/7, and an apparently
newly hired 9 to 5 administrative compliance officer
is somehow the answer?
This is an intolerable situation that must be rectified immediately. The SRPD are highly effective and
courteous professionals who are here to serve us as

There is no need to call for
pickup, as all roads will be
checked. Public Works is unable to estimate dates/times for
pickup at individual properties.
How long it takes crews to
reach your area is dependent on
the amount of materials to be
collected throughout Sunriver,
weather conditions, and other
scheduled projects.

best they can, and as of right now they are unable to
do because of an extremely short sighted decision by
the SROA to no longer utilize their service, a decision
made without proper notification or discussion with
homeowners who pay the SROA salaries.
Vote NO on the Capital Transfer Fee
By Mitch Cooney
The Capital Transfer Fee is a tax which you will be
required to pay on the sale of your Sunriver home but,
in the end, you will see no benefit.
You would be required to pay a portion of the sale of
your home to fund projects envisioned and completed
long after you have left Sunriver.
Those of us who have been living here for some time
remember when the annual SROA Maintenance Fee
was under $700, the current fee exceeds $2,000 annually; there is nothing to preclude the fee percentage
on the sale of your Sunriver home will not increase
over time.
Finally, there is no inventory of anticipated projects
that needs to be completed with the new generated
tax revenue. Not only would you pay for projects for
which you receive no benefit, the list of projects that
you will pay for long after you have left Sunriver has
not yet been envisioned.
