Artists' Gallery Sunriver Celebrates Locals Weekend
By Barb Gonzalez
Each year, the Artists' Gallery
Sunriver celebrates community
members by giving back during
Locals’ Weekend.
Locals and visitors are invited to join in fun activities,
giveaways, sampling tasty local
treats, listening to music and
mingling with the artists while
bringing donations for the fall
food drive for Care & Share,
a nonprofit food bank serving
local citizens.
Join the fun on Saturday,
Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

and Sunday, Sept. 13 from 10
a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Village
at Sunriver.
The gallery is home to local
artists from painters, potters,
glass artists, fiber artists, wood
workers, metal artists, jewelers
and photographers, each with
their own way of seeing Central
Oregon. All weekend you can
watch artists work, ask questions, and gain an understand
for how each piece starts. If you
have never been to the gallery
before, this is the perfect weekend to come see what we are
SEPTEMBER 2026 SUNRIVER SCENE
about. If you've been here, you
can get to know your favorite
artists better.
Locals Weekend starts Saturday morning with a treasure
hunt throughout The Village
at Sunriver. Participants should
visit the Artists’ Gallery to receive instructions.
The party begins at 3:30
p.m. with “Chicken Dance”
lessons to prepare dancing for
the second annual Sunriver
Oktoberfest. Wear your favorite Oktoberfest outfit and join
the fun. Prizes will be given for
best dressed. Dance lessons will
be led by community members.
After dancing, enjoy delicious food samples from 4 to
7 p.m. from Josie K's Deli +
Kitchen, Sunriver Brewing Co.,
and Hot Lava Baking. Musicians Mark Barringer and Jo
Booser will perform a musical
tribute to the 60s, 70s, and
80s. Barringer grew up in the
San Francisco Bay area and has
played with musicians across
many genres including from
rock, rhythm and blues, folk,
and bluegrass. He is known for
his strong vocals and guitar, and
he is always a fun addition to
the evening.
Sunday brings mimosas and
treats from Hot Lava Baking
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., artists’
demonstrations from 11 a.m.
to 4 p.m., and a chance to make

your own watercolor card from
1 to 3 p.m.
Locals’ Weekend is also about
working together to give to
those in need in our community. This is the Artists’ Gallery’s ninth year filling Don’s
Truck for Care & Share, the
local nonprofit food bank that
provides food boxes to families
in south Deschutes County.
Last year, the goal was to collect
2,500 pounds of nonperishable
food. This year, we want to beat
that goal with your help.
Please bring a non-perishable
food items or a cash donation
for those in need, so together
we can fill Don's Truck once
again. Bring in your donation
and get a raffle ticket for a
chance to win art, jewelry, and
fine crafts, generously donated
by our artists.
