Sunriver Books to host fundraiser for Bethlehem Inn and Shepherd's House Ministries

Artist and author Jeff Horn
will present “Life on the Edge:
Faces of Humanity” on July 18
at 6 p.m. at Sunriver Books in
The Village at Sunriver.
Community members and
visitors are invited to have a fun
evening, while helping those in
need at the same time. Purchase
tickets for $25 at Sunriver
Books. All funds from ticket
sales benefit Bethlehem Inn
and Shepherd’s House Ministries. Space is limited.
It is a tragedy that people in
the United States are sleeping
on sidewalks, under freeway
overpasses, or wherever they
can find space.
Sunriver resident George
Selfridge wanted to make a
difference and to contribute
meaningfully to help those in
need. Selfridge persuaded his
friend and artist Horn to give
a presentation in Sunriver.
Horn’s presentation will include a slide show. There will
be refreshments, drawings for
prizes, a silent auction and a

Klune’s lovely book encourages kindness and tolerance
to flourish.
Linus Baker is a government
inspector of orphanages for
children with magical abilities
and powers, kids that are a
bit different.
Linus is a rule follower, a by
the book sort of guy. His job is
to bring order to the orphanages he inspects and make sure
the rules are followed to keep
the children and the public safe.
All that adherence to rules
and such makes him a bit rigid.
He is about to face a reason to
soften up.
Extremely Upper Management summons Linus for a
raffle with a dazzling first prize.
Horn created charcoal drawings of people suffering a lack
of housing. He paired his drawings of the people with their
own words. The result was
published in a book with 100
drawings alongside the words
of the people for an intimate,
poignant presentation titled,
“In Our Eyes: In Our Words.”
Horn’s book is available at
the bookstore for $60. Proceeds
from your purchase will go to
Bethlehem Inn and Shepherd’s
House. A selection of prints
from the book will be available for purchase at the July
18 event.
Selfridge and Julie Parmentier are donating the grand prize
for the raffle, a one-week stay
in their lovely Kona, Hawaii
townhouse between March 15
and March 27, 2027. A week in
paradise is definitely fun.

He is being sent to the island
of Marsyas where Arthur runs
an orphanage for children.
Extremely Upper Management fears the orphanage may
be too dangerous to continue
in its current circumstances.
Linus is to spend a month
at the orphanage to learn if
things are tip top and no rules
are being broken.
He is charged with assessing
if the situation is too dangerous
to the public.
Arthur genuinely loves his
unique young charges.
He would do anything to
keep them safe and together. But those government
officials don’t allow a lot of
leeway for people with differences or independence. The
nearby villagers aren’t accepting of having the children
nearby either.
As the month passes, Linus
changes. He questions imposing such strict standards
on everyone.
Why can’t beings be different
and still be allowed to live their
lives without disruption?
