blend of science, education and
conservation.
Today, SNCO continues
to grow in both reach and
purpose. We are currently
renovating our education amphitheater, thanks to a generous
donation from Kelli Leonard
and Kandice Knigge in honor
of late members of their families. The new amphitheater
will be rotated 90 degrees to
highlight the stunning views of
Lake Aspen’s riparian wildlife
habitat, seating more than 130
guests on long-lasting stone
benches with built-in lighting
for evening programs. Once
complete, it will again serve as
a welcoming gathering place
for lectures, school groups and
community events, breathing
new life into a space that has
been standing for nearly six
decades.
In addition to this project,
SNCO is preparing for a series
of exciting campus updates,
Golf
counsel regarding potential
legal options, and continues
to do so. As stated previously,
SROA’s governing documents
do not provide any authority or relief for the Resort’s
membership actions. Legal
counsel advised SROA on their
obligations toward the Resort
as an owner and noted any
punitive restrictions or legal
challenge levied against the

made possible by the generosity
of our local community. Once
fully approved, our upcoming
improvements would include:
• An interior renovation of
the Nature Center building
• A new aviary in the botanic
garden space
• Wildlife art by local artist
Janessa Bork of Vivi Designs
• Further down the line we’re
planning for an education pavilion, nature playground and
accessible pathways, ensuring
everyone, regardless of age
or ability, can connect with
nature.
These projects reflect a renewed investment in Sunriver’s
founding vision: a place where
learning, discovery and living
in harmony with nature remain
at the heart of it all and we
look forward to sharing these
improvements with our community.

discriminatory.
SROA has taken the issue of
non-membership access to the
golf courses seriously and has
explored options on behalf of
all owners. However, SROA’s
only option at this time remains persuasion, which as
noted previously has not been
successful.
Going forward, SROA will
continue to encourage owners
to register their concerns with
Sunriver Resort management.
SROA will also explore other
legal paths to see owner access
to golf.
In parallel, SROA will continue to express to Resort
management, on behalf of
all owners, the need for more
economical, limited access to
the Resort’s golf facilities. In
this vein, SROA has asked these
questions and pursued the following options with the Resort:
• Limited play punch cards
for owners
• Keeping one course open
for public/owner play
• Designating specific times
of day, certain days or seasonal
use for owner play
• Providing a reduced mem-
bership fee for limited play – on
an annual basis – with a limited
number sold on a first come,
first served basis
• A membership per property
(available for owners and rental
guests) – with a limited number
of these sold or a limited number of plays available under
such a program
SROA also has reached out to
two nearby courses (Quail Run
near La Pine and Lost Tracks in
Bend) regarding special rates
for Sunriver owners. Neither
golf course has responded to
SROA's inquiries.
