Exploring Sunriver’s art galleries
By Jim Fister
It seemed like summer was
just yesterday in Sunriver. Now
as fall takes full hold of the
region and the holidays loom
in everyone’s mind, the local gallery scene continues to
bring great art to residents and
visitors.
The Nancy McGrath Green
Gallery at Sunriver Christian
Fellowship is showing “The
Beautiful West: Near and Far.”
Five photographers captured
nature’s beauty from Aasgard
Pass to Mount Thielsen. The
artists bring landscapes to life
from some surprising perspectives.
Karen Maier, Mark Darnell,
Roy Green, Steve Warner and
Sue Dougherty bring stunning
views to our area so that we can
prepare for our travels next year.
The Betty Gray Gallery of
Art at the Sunriver Lodge
continues its two-floor show,
which will run through No-
vember.
Artist and professor Andrew Lorish created a special
show with custom cut wood
stamps, using them to create
unique and colorful patterns
for the canvas. His two-floor
show presents two separate
series for the viewer.
The new art display at
the Sunriver Public Safety
building may be found in the
lobby and in Seator Hall. Local artists on display include
photographer Holly Fischer
and watercolor artist Dianne
Lay. The new space is a collaboration of the Sunriver Service
District and the Artists’ Gallery Sunriver, and will rotate
art on a regular basis, with
this show running through
November. Even as the temperatures drop and the earlier
sunsets descend on Sunriver,
art remains bright. Visit all the
galleries and enjoy what the
wonderful artists have to offer.

Rock the holidays with Sunriver Music Festival concert with Aaron Meyer
Violinist Aaron Meyer’s
“Concert Rock” style of performance blends his classical
training with a passion for rock
music.
Inspired by this fusion, Meyer’s music features arrangements from Vivaldi to Led
Zeppelin; Aerosmith to Rossini; and Mozart to Queen’s
Bohemian Rhapsody.
He will perform at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 10 at the
Tower Theatre in Bend.
While in Central Oregon,
Meyer also will conduct music
workshops for every single
class at Three Rivers School.
Along with Sunriver Music
Festival, Meyer is committed to benefiting the lives of
students, families, musicians,
and teachers through music
education opportunities and
performances.
See one outcome of this
passion as Meyer welcomes
students to join him on stage
in performances, too. Watch
for local young musicians on
with Meyer at the concert.
A student of the violin since
he was 5 years old, Meyer
debuted with the Philadelphia
Orchestra by age 11.
He later soloed with the Oregon Symphony, the Bangkok

Symphony Orchestra in Thailand and many other symphony
orchestras.
Over the last two decades,
Meyer has released 11 albums,
and he is in constant demand
on stage.
A Central Oregon fan favorite,
Sunriver Music Festival has
been presenting Meyer and
band in concert since the mid
1990s.
Reserve your tickets by visiting sunrivermusic.org or calling
