Celebrity artist to offer Sunriver workshop on how to 'pocket sketch' your travels
Kath Macaulay, a nationally
known artist based in Tucson,
Arizona, is the creator of “Pocket Sketching,” currently airing
weekly on PBS/OPB.
Pocket sketching is a quick
sketching technique that allows
anyone to sketch a memory,
journal their travels or record
anything of interest wherever
they may be in the world – in
25 minutes or less.
The method is quick, portable and requires no clean up.
Macaulay and Sunriver resident and certified teacher Julie
Barrett are leading a three-day
workshop Aug. 3–5, from 9:30
a.m. to 4 p.m. at SHARC,
57250 Overlook Road in
Sunriver.
The workshop will cover a
variety of techniques each day.
• Monday, Aug. 3: Learn
basic techniques of using a water-soluble pen for sketching.
Through sketching landscapes,
perspective of contrast, color
and focal point will be covered. Use of watercolors will
be introduced.
• Tuesday, Aug. 4: Still life,
people and composition.
Demonstrations given.
• Wednesday, Aug. 5: Plein
air sketching. We’ll use the
technique fearlessly anywhere.
More advanced watercolor
techniques with our sketches
will be explored.
The workshop is limited to
12 adults. The cost is $400
and includes all class materials,
valued at $50. Email Barrett at
contactsilverspringsart@gmail. Kath Macaulay will teach a workshop on 'Pocket Sketching' in
com for registration.
