Bike your way through Sunriver during 'Art in the Circles' event
By Jim Fister
May is a time when Sunriver
is at its best. The weather is typically great, and the bike paths
and shops are not as busy as they
are in the summer months. It’s
a great time to visit Sunriver,
from near and far.
To celebrate, local galleries are
hosting “Art in the Circles,” and
showcasing the great artwork
in Sunriver.
Betty Gray Gallery
The upstairs gallery at the
Betty Gray Gallery at Sunriver
Resort Lodge features the work
of Kay Baker and Gordon Baker, who moved to Bend more
than 27 years ago.
When they arrived in Bend, it
didn’t take long before they become active in the community.
Gordon Baker took to plein air
painting while Kay Baker joined
the Sagebrushers Art Society.
She became one of the founders
of High Desert Art League, and
she and Gordon Baker were
two of the founders of Plein Air
Painters of Oregon.
Their art is a showcase
of landscapes familiar to
those who appreciate art in
Central Oregon.
Downstairs, the gallery features a show from new artist
Rebecca Howland. As a selftaught painter, Howland draws
inspiration from the natural
world, bringing vignettes of
imagination to life through her
artwork. Her show is a wide
variety of her work in small for-
