Spring cleaning? Give your items a second life at the Second Tern Thrift Store
As the days get warmer, it is
time to rejoice in springtime
traditions. Oregon grape begins to open its bright yellow
flowers, deer saunter back into
town, northern flickers begin
their percussive nest-building
activities and many humans
take part in the annual ritual of
spring cleaning.
Generations ago, the transition of seasons was an onerous,
labor-intensive process involving cleaning chimneys, scouring
floorboards and beating rugs.
Today, with modern conveniences, spring cleaning has
evolved into a time to refresh
and reset our living spaces.
If your annual ritual of spring
cleaning involves clearing unwanted items from your closet
and garage, consider donating
them to the Second Tern Thrift
Store. Volunteers keep items
circulating through our community and out of the landfill.
Common items that get donated in the spring include
winter clothing, shoes, jackets,
sporting goods, household
items and small appliances.
Many of the items donated
are still in great condition.
Whether you’ve given up pickleball, haven’t touched your
breadmaker in months or your
child has outgrown their bike,
Second Tern thrift shop is located west of Sunriver on Spring River Road.
your once-loved items can find
a new purpose.
Second Tern currently seeks
donations of men’s and children's summer clothing, board
games, furniture, fabric and
crafting materials. Your clutter is a wonderful treasure for
someone else.
The Tern is a volunteer-powered thrift store where you can
find used golf clubs, gardening
tools, tennis shoes or bicycles.
As a bonus, the proceeds
support environmental education programs at the Sunriver
Nature Center & Observatory.
A simple purchase like a new
sunhat can translate to a child
looking through a solar telescope on a field trip. This circle
of sustainability and local focus
is all made possible by donors
and shoppers like you.
