Help support an SROA associate in need
The Scene is reaching
out to readers to share the
story of Becki Sylvester, a
30-year Sunriver Owners
Association employee and
co-worker who is facing
an incredibly challenging
time.
Just after the birth of
her first grandchild, Becki
suffered a severe fall in
December that resulted
in multiple broken bones.
What was supposed to be
a difficult but manageable
recovery quickly turned
into a life-threatening situation. She spent more than
a month in the hospital,
battling respiratory failure
and undergoing multiple
surgeries. Despite these
hardships, Becki’s strength
and determination have
been remarkable.
Unfortunately, just as
she was preparing to return home, tragedy struck
again. Her house caught
fire in February, causing
significant damage and
forcing her to find temporary housing. Thankfully,
her beloved dog was rescued, but he too required
medical care. Now, Becki
faces mounting medical
bills, ongoing rehabilitation costs and the daunting task of rebuilding her
home.
A GoFundMe account
has been started: https://
gofund.me/b37f5156a
If you can, please consid-
er donating to help Becki
during this difficult time.
Every contribution, no
matter the size, will make
a difference in her recovery
and rebuilding process.
Becki Sylvester, and her
granddaughter Palmer,
shortly after Sylvester
was released from the
hospital. Sylvester has
worked for 30 years as
SROA’s administrative
executive assistant.

Post 15mph speed limit
on pathways
By Tigue Howe
In reference to the Scene article on page 1, "Volunteers for
Ambassador program."
I realize the article is not
specific to the uses of e-bike
on the paths, however it does
reference the Pathway Safety
Task Force Report. I welcome
the Pathway Ambassadors and
Bike Patrols etc., and I realize
they are not there to "enforce"
the e-bike rules.
However, when reading the
report and recommendations I
found it surprising that in over
32 pages of written material
not once could I find it stating
what the actual pathway speed
limit is.
In the report, there was so
much attention to certain
e-bikes even though at the time
of the task force there had been
zero documented accidents
involving e-bikes in Sunriver.
We have had a place in Sunriver
for 25 years and I ride the paths
frequently and I don't own
an e-bike but in recent years
with the cost and availability
of e-bike ownership I see it has
allowed many older people to
be able to ride and enjoy the
paths with grandkids or just to
get out of the house. Mobility
issues with an aging population
is a real issue and e-bikes allow
seniors to enjoy the outdoors
and Sunriver like they once did
or wanted to do.
I understand the concern is
that certain model e-bikes can
go very fast but keep in mind I
myself can easily pedal my bike
faster than the 15 mph speed
limit for the paths.
So, if speed was a concern
then why not just post the speed
limit rather than picking on
granny riding a non-compliant
e-bike.

By Christmas Sharing Program
The 2025 Christmas Sharing program is over, and we would
like to thank the Sunriver community and businesses for their
food and monetary donations. We also would like to thank our
many volunteers for their time and passion.
We don’t want anyone in the Sunriver community to go without
during any time of the year – let alone during the holidays.
In 2025, the program served close to 50 families. This would
not be possible if it wasn’t for the collaboration of the Sunriver
community, volunteers, Care and Share, and Community Bible
Church Sunriver.
Applications will be opening in October for the 2026 Sunriver
Christmas Sharing Program. Tell your friends, co-workers, neighbors or anyone that could use some support during the coming
holiday season.
