‘Walking Alongside Dementia’ workshop
Sunriver Christian Fellowship (SCF) is hosting a free
training and conversation for
caregivers, families and friends
interested in learning more
about dementia and how to
walk alongside someone who
may be experiencing it.
According to the Alzheimer's
Association, more than 7 million Americans are living with
dementia.

The workshop will be held at
10 a.m. Tuesday, March 10 in
the Fellowship Hall, upstairs at
Sunriver Christian Fellowship
(SCF). SCF is located at 18139
Cottonwood Road, across from
the north store.

Session based on
Teepa Snow's work
This session will lean heavily
on the work of Teepa Snow,
an occupational therapist and
dementia care specialist with
more than 40 years of clinical
experience.
She is known for her Positive
Approach to Care philosophy
(PAC), which aims to improve
the lives of their caregivers.
Snow's approach emphasizes
using retained skills and providing support for what is no
longer available.
Workshop led by Sally Heise
Led by Sally Heise, a PAC
certified dementia trainer, the
gathering offers practical guidance, compassionate insight
and space for honest conversations.
The session will last around
two hours.
Together, the participants
will explore:
• What the difference is
between dementia and Alzheimer's
• Early signs and what to
do when you begin to notice
changes
• How to support someone
as dementia progresses
• How to support the caregiver with patience, respect
and hope
Come learn the answers to
these questions and start some
meaningful discussions.
