budget.
• Recommend an annual
maintenance fee assessment
for the next year to the board
before its November meeting.
A lot of discussion takes place
on an acceptable maintenance
fee to balance fiscal responsibility against possible SROA
programs and amenities.
• Review monthly the association’s investment portfolio
and recommend to the board
any changes. The committee
can make investment in authorized securities with a length
of up to two years. Anything
longer than that requires approval by the SROA board. In
the past two years the committee has recommended several
investments of up to five years
in length to lock in recent high
interest rates on reserve assets.
• Review monthly the preceding month and year-to-date

follow-up work with SROA’s
legal counsel regarding fine/fee
lawsuits. Followed up with various board members and owners
financial statements including reserve accounts, balance

items and request clarification
of any items desired. Monthly
finances are carefully reviewed
by the committee.
• Monitor the association’s
update of the reserve study and
review fixed assets records every
three years. I will be discussing
the reserve study in a future
article as the three year review
is scheduled for later this year.
Other responsibilities include recommending any
changes needed to internal
financial policies and procedures, reviewing the employee
benefits package, the insurance
coverage for the association,
broker performance, and annual appointment of auditors
for the association.
Guidance to the committee
is provided by SROA controller
Joe Healy. His organization,
knowledge and experience is
very valuable to the committee.
We are fortunate to have a
tremendous amount of talent
and financial experience serving on the committee. Current board members include
board president Bill Burke,
board treasurer and committee chair Clark Pederson, Brad
Banta and Veronica Jacknow.
Community members include
Michael Applegate, Luis Bayol,
Stephen Murray, David Shanberg, John Vogel and Kara
Kerker. Alternate members
are Corey Wright and Cathy
Brucker.
If you see these people out
in the community, be sure to
thank them for their dedication and the countless hours
they spend overseeing and
protecting Sunriver finances
and assets.

Give back to Sunriver:
Run for the SROA Board
With 2026 off to a great start, now is a good time to reflect upon
Sunriver’s giving spirit. During the recent holiday season, there
were community efforts to provide food for the needy, support
for both homeless and women’s shelters, and much more. The
people of Sunriver are engaged and generous.
Another important way of contributing is to become involved in
local governance. Sunriver needs your involvement and leadership.
The Nominating Committee is seeking candidates to run for the
SROA Board of Directors and encourages owners to get involved.
All Sunriver property owners, both resident and non-resident,
are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors. Positions are elected
in August for three year terms.
If you want to find out more, or wish to indicate your interest,
contact the Nominating Committee at nominating@srowners.org.
You also can contact any member of the Nominating Committee
for additional information. Committee members and their contact
information are listed at the end of this article.
There are two ways to qualify as a candidate and have your
name placed on the ballot.
1.
Simply fill out the Board Candidate Application and
return it to the Nominating Committee by March 20, 2026, or
2.
Qualify by petition. Gather 100 signatures from Sunriver
property owners, (only one signature per property) and submit
your petition to the SROA office by 5 p.m. April 1, 2026.
More details on each process and the associated forms can
be found on the SROA website at www.sunriverowners.org/
