Join the SSD Nominating Committee: Help
shape the future of local police, fire leadership
The Sunriver Service District
(SSD) Nominating Committee
is accepting applications for
new members. This separate
and autonomous committee
identifies, evaluates and recommends qualified candidates
to serve on the SSD Managing
Board.
As a member of the Nominating Committee, you will
review applicant materials, verify candidate eligibility, assess
professional experience and
community involvement, and
conduct interviews.
You also will help ensure a
fair and transparent process
by communicating updates to
both the managing board and
applicants, ultimately recommending finalists for appointments.
We encourage applications
from community members
who support the SSD’s commitment to public safety and good
governance, can collaborate
impartially while maintaining
confidentiality, and are willing
to serve during the annual selection cycle. While background
knowledge or experience in police, fire, or emergency services
is helpful, it is not required.
To qualify, applicants must
be a district property owner, a
registered district elector, or a
business owner representative
within the district bounds.
The time commitment is
minimal – approximately 20 to
25 hours per year. The committee typically meets in April to
prepare for the process, reviews
applications in May, and conducts candidate interviews in
June. The committee only convenes when there is a vacancy on
the SSD board. Terms are threeyear commitments, providing
consistency and continuity in
the nomination process.
