achievements, look forward to 2026 events

Reflecting on a successful
year was a rewarding experience
for the members of the Rotary
Club of Sunriver-La Pine at
their first meeting in January.
Members had the opportunity to review their service activities including providing grants
to local nonprofits in south
Deschutes County, awarding
scholarships to La Pine High
School graduates, donating
books for local first-grade students, collecting basic supplies
for the unhoused and giving
poinsettias to senior citizens for
Christmas gifts.
Club members raised funds
for their community projects thanks to three successful
fundraisers: an annual dinner
and wine auction, a raffle for
an e-bike and Bingo Nights at
Village Bar & Grill.

to Village Bar & Grill owners

for generously hosting bingo
games at their restaurant.
In addition to helping their
local community, Rotary members take pride in contributing
to the Rotary International
Foundation that over the last
hundred years has invested $3
billion dollars to thousands of
projects throughout the world.
The projects focus on encouraging peace, preventing disease,
providing clean water, and
promoting education. At the
January meeting, Pam Beezley
received a special Paul Harris
Fellow award for her generous
donations to the international
foundation. Paul Harris founded Rotary International in
1905 in Chicago as the world’s
first international service club.
Beezley is an inspiration as she
supports Rotary’s worldwide efforts to make a positive impact
through global initiatives. All
club members make annual donations, especially to projects
focused on eradicating polio
throughout the world.
At their first meeting of the
new year, members looked
ahead to 2026 by electing officers who will assume or continue to assume their responsibilities on July 1, the beginning
of the club’s fiscal year.
Brandy Odekirk is the newly
elected president. She learned
about the Rotary Club of Sunriver-La Pine when her daughter’s Battle of the Books team
at Three Rivers School was the
recipient of a club grant.
