Local artist wins esteemed award; will show at the Sunriver Art Fair
A Sunriver area resident,
John Vale was honored at the
prestigious Lake Oswego Art
Fair with a blue ribbon for his
work and achievements.
Vale, owner of Copper Moon
Artisan, has been working with
copper, wood and stone for
four years, and he has been an
artist for 34 years. His work
reflects the beauty of the wild-
life in Central Oregon. Oralee
and Harry Hamilton gifted his
artwork to the Sunriver Nature
Center & Observatory, where it
is displayed in the lobby.
Vale has been attending the
Sunriver Art Fair for several
years, and he is a patron of the
Sunriver Women’s Club. His
artwork has evolved from stone
garden art to three-dimensional
wall art. He has owned galleries in Lake Oswego and St.
Augustine. He has spent many
years working with sand carving stone, and he has created
unique copper patinas.
Visit Copper Moon Artian’s
booth at the Sunriver Art Fair
to see his work. The fair is open
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8,
and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 9.
Rotary Club's annual fundraiser will benefit local nonprofit organizations
the opportunity to feed carrots
to the horses.
The live auction, expertly
hosted by Shanan Kelley, was
lively with fierce bidding for
trips and experiences.
The club members wish
to thank everyone who attended, as well as the club
members, residents and businesses that donated auction
items. More than $40,000
was raised to support club
projects that include scholarships to La Pine High School
graduates and grants to nonprofit organizations in south
Deschutes County.
Rotary Club meetings are
held on Wednesday at 7:45
a.m. at Sunriver Resort’s
Hearth Room. Everyone is
invited to enjoy breakfast
while learning more about
the club. Rotary is a great
way to give back and make
a difference in your community. Learn more at sunri
