August Scene - Flipbook - Page 22
Sunriver's growing gallery scene celebrates local artists
August is a time to enjoy art
in Sunriver. The advent of the
annual Sunriver Art Fair in The
Village at Sunriver joins the
existing galleries in Sunriver
to provide enjoyment for all
art lovers. In addition to the
Artists’ Gallery, the Betty Gray
Gallery and the Nancy McGrath Green Gallery, there are
increasing places to enjoy art
when you’re in the area.
Centrally Oregon
Centrally Oregon, the newly
opened arts and coworking studio in Sunriver, is offering up
space for both remote workers
and artists alike with desks,
tables and comfy conversation
corners providing an environment for quiet inspiration.
Centrally Oregon provides
members with 24-hour access while encouraging the
community to join in classes,
workshops and other exciting
activities. The space also is
working as a local art gallery for
those interested in showcasing
their work.
Currently, owner Stephanie
Gregory is displaying her own
work, a series of mixed media,
acrylic collage works of poetry. Find more information at
www.centrallyoregon.com or

veals something extraordinary.
Rather than simply documenting a scene, Evanson builds his
photography around patience,
timing and presence.
He returns to the same places
again and again, waiting for the
light, mood and movement
that transform a moment into
fine art.
Crooked River Gorge by Helen Brown
Betty Gray Gallery
At the Betty Gray Gallery,
photographer Kristina Zieglar
is showcasing her landscape
works. As a young child, she
loved visiting the woods near
her home in Illinois and staring
up at the night sky. This led to
many adventures hiking, backpacking, climbing mountains
and international travel. Zieglar
started serious photography
upon her retirement in 2016.
She specializes in what is called
“astro landscape photography.”
Her aim in her photography
of the night sky is to combine
the scientific, artistic and spiritual aspects of studying and
photographing scenes that
many people are unable to see.
Zieglar will be featured through
the summer.
Downstairs, the gallery
features photographer and
Sunriver resident Paul Evanson.
His photography is rooted
in his deep love for Central
Oregon, its landscape and
wildlife. His work focuses on
the region's high desert light,
forests, rivers, mountains and
native wildlife, capturing the
brief moments when nature re-
