Preparing students for a successful school year and a brighter future
As summer winds down,
August brings with it the excitement of a new school year. For
students, it means opportunities to learn and grow as they
meet their new teachers and
classmates. For parents and
educators, it marks a season of
preparation, including gathering school supplies, organizing
schedules, and helping children
start the year with confidence.
At the Sunriver Women's
Club, back-to-school season is
also a reminder that preparing
students for success extends
far beyond pencils, notebooks
and backpacks. It takes a caring
community working together
to ensure all children have the
opportunity to learn, thrive and
reach their full potential.
Education and youth development is one of Sunriver
Women’s Club’s five ongoing philanthropic priorities.
Throughout the year, its members proudly support local non-

profit organizations that help
children succeed both inside
and outside the classroom.
The club’s annual philanthropy efforts include grants
that invest in programs that
strengthen early literacy, provide caring mentors for youth
facing adversity, offer safe afterschool learning environments,
and create opportunities for
students to build confidence,
resilience, leadership skills and
career readiness.
For example, just this year,
the club donated $37,000 to
education and youth development programs that help children build the academic, social
and emotional foundation
they need to succeed. From
providing books that foster
early literacy and mentors who
encourage students to stay on
track through graduation, to
creating safe afterschool learning environments and opportunities for teens to develop job

skills and explore future careers,
these programs help children
gain far more than classroom
knowledge. These programs
build confidence, resilience, curiosity and hope, all important
qualities that prepare young
people not only for a successful
school year, but for a lifetime of
learning and opportunity.
These programs recognize an
important truth that when children feel supported academically, emotionally and socially,
they are better equipped to
succeed not only in school, but
throughout their lives.
As many of us settle back
into our own routines after
a busy summer, August is a
perfect time to think about
getting involved in our local
community. Whether through
volunteering, philanthropy,
mentoring a young person,
supporting a teacher or simply
through donating school supplies to families in need, each
of us has the opportunity to
invest in the next generation.
Small acts of encouragement
today can have a lasting impact
on a child's future. Together, we
can help build brighter futures
- one student, one family, and
one community at a time.
The Sunriver Women’s Club
wishes all local students, teachers, school staff and families a
wonderful, safe and successful
school year!
