Chorus of One: Collectively losing as a community
By Mike Mathews
We are about to embark on
year two of The Resort’s self-imposed golf exile.
I live 200 yards as the crow
flies from the Woodlands clubhouse, such as it is.
Last June to early September,
I drove by daily and couldn’t
believe the lack of activity.
These resort courses are losing
their tail ends revenue-wise.
The entirety of Sunriver
Lodge’s decision to go “private”
is to corner the rental market.
I’ll repeat what I said at last
year’s annual HOA meeting: If
you are using the resort to manage your rental property, you are
a major part of the problem.
Where is the outrage from
the local rental management
companies?
Where is the outrage from
the local businesses, especially
in the Village, whose business is
dropping due to the incredible
loss of home rentals overall in
Sunriver?
If you are trying to sell your
property, have you noticed the
vastly longer selling times and
depressed home values one can
command at sale?
Well, at least your transfer fee
hit will be less… you have that
to look forward to.
Is the Sunriver Police doing
their job of keeping us safe?
When was the last time a
DUI arrest was made of one of
the many intoxicated “golfers”
Paint more tennis courts for pickleball
By Paul W. Sherman
Every summer, the Sunriver
pickleball courts are packed, but
on most days the tennis courts
are vacant.
Let’s consider enhancing the
use of our tennis courts by
painting pickleball court lines
on them.
Tennis players would have
priority in reserving these double duty courts, but in their
absence new venues would be
available to pickleballers.
driving our streets on their “Stay
and Play” soiree?
Is the Resort actually abiding
by environmental laws and
Oregon State statutes?
If the fuel tank at the marina, immediately adjoining the
Deschutes River and its incredible ecosystem, is any indication
of environmental maturity by
the Resort, then I highly doubt
they give a hoot about the golf
course and its many chemicals
being unceremoniously spewed
every day.
