Author Phillip Margolin brings his latest novel to Sunriver Books

entertaining presentation with
New York Times Bestselling
author Phillip Margolin.
He will share his latest legal
thriller, “False Witness” at 5
p.m. Saturday, April 11 at the
bookstore.

Margolin is a great raconteur
as he always puts on a good
show. We are grateful to Margolin for his generosity, excellent mysteries and fun events.
A childhood fascination with
Perry Mason led Margolin to
a career as a criminal defense
attorney in Portland who handled death penalty cases and argued before the U.S. Supreme
Court.
He brings his rich knowledge
of criminal law to writing legal
thrillers.
Featuring strong women and
dangerous criminals, “False
Witness” is about the quest for
the truth.
Karen Wyatt was a successful
defense attorney who exposed
corruption in the prosecutor’s
office. The corruption case led
to her being framed on a drug
charge and sent to prison.
She did time, but it was
rough. When she was exonerated, she sued over her false
conviction. The award was
huge, allowing her to take on
the bad guys knowing her resources gave some measure of
protection.
A car led Jack Blackburn
astray. God, he loved driving
that car! It was a 2019 Jaguar
XJR575 – such a cool, smooth
ride. He was asked by a friend
to drive the car, but it is a bad
look to be caught driving a
dead man’s car, even worse if
the man was murdered. Jack
isn’t the brightest guy, but he
understands he is in serious
trouble.

In 1970, he served in the
Peace Corps in Liberia, Africa.
While attending law school,
Margolin taught junior high
school in the South Bronx.
Today, he travels widely and
stays in touch with the world.
Margolin is also a champion of
independent bookstores.
